Americans have given up respect for the office of the Presidency. I doubt if it will ever return.

I wonder if the recent media coverage in the U.S. is a look into the future of their Presidency. When elected, will he have to spend the next four years being constantly attacked by his own country? Will this dictate policy? The fate of the nation taking a back burner to warding off attacks and enacting personal vendettas?
