I’m reading this story and the man says, “My name is Ahmed.”

It reminds me of yesterday when I was returning from Halifax. Almost all the way home, I was following a car with the license plate, AHMED.

Some people that come to see you are visitors, others are people that stay too long.

How long should a visitor stay? From what I can tell, three days seems to be the magic number. But, this all depends on the people involved.

As we grow older, do the facts of our life turn into fiction?

There are some places in the past that people don’t like to acknowledge. You don’t want it to nag you through life but no matter how hard we try to forget them, they keep sneaking back.

Thinking about all the statues about the Civil War they have removed, I think they rewrite history. To prove the point, in the new movie of the landing on the moon, they will omit the American flag placed there by Neil Armstrong.

In the coal mining town where I grew up, everything was black with coal dust, the houses, the ground, the washed clothes on the line and the snow. But there was only one black man.

Having done a lot of travelling, I can relate to this. On my first trip to Rome, it was by way of a cruise ship. We were bussed in. At the Trevi Fountain, we could hardly move. Had trouble throwing my coins in. At the Vatican, we couldn’t get in because of the long lineups.

A week later we disembarked the ship in Venice, then took a train back to Rome, where we stayed awhile.

Now this was a totally different atmosphere. There were hardly anyone at the Trevi Fountain but too late for me, I already spent my coins. We went to the Vatican at 8:00 a.m. and there was maybe a dozen tourists. Took all the photos we wanted without a people background.

Last year we went to Germany and stayed in Munich and Fussen, a week each. It was just normal life, no pushing or shoving. Although any tourist attraction like Neuschwanstein castle, will have a lot of visitors, even from their own country.

Tourists bring in a lot of money, but it comes at a cost.

What laws will a government pass if the leader is a fool?

When you need to know what is really happening ....you are not going to find out.

If we knew the consequences of all the decisions we’ve made, would we ever make any. For one thing, we couldn’t be blamed for the bad ones but then again we couldn’t get credit for the good ones. Our ego would take over, because we want the credit and are able to ignore the rest.

Some people refrain from asking questions but have a lot of opinions about everything.

When you divorce someone, does that mean you are also divorcing all the relatives?

Innocence is something you lost a bit at a time, year after year but not as much as when you found out there was no Santa.

First there was fake sport, then fake news. What's next fake weather?

In political circles, someone can weigh 350 lbs. and still be called a lightweight.

When I was young, in a town of wooden houses,

covered with wooden shingles, unused nails were often to be found. Unfortunately, many of them were found in the soles of the feet of children, who spent the summer running around in bare feet. If this happened now, there would be a quick trip to Emergency and a stab with a Tetanus shot. But not back then.

In those days, we would pull out the nail, lick our finger and rub it over the wound to wipe away the blood. Then there would be a quick trip to Mom, who would kiss the spot and make all the hurt go away.

"The Good Wife" is beginning to step into the garbage bucket.

When it comes to politics and your vote common sense does not prevail. Naivety and the media are the deciding factors. Naïve voters with a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgement, having limited knowledge of issues involved, cast their vote with the advice of the media and ranting celebrities. Some vote for one party because it’s a family tradition. Far be it for anyone to vote for someone who is good for the country.
