I remember when we used to use catalogues for toilet paper. What was your favorite, Sears or Eaton's?.

Sears

Not much going on yesterday. Rained all day. My wife was busy cleaning out the basement...again. She came and gave me two pair of new pants. She said I could have them for Father's Day. That's good. I looked at the sales tag after she left and noticed that it was from Sears - 2011. She has the habit of giving me the same present more than once. That's not going to happen again. I hung up both pair in my closet, to use.
Both Canada and the U.S. have the habit of sending jobs to foreign places, to stupid and lazy people. We should keep those jobs here, we have lots of stupid and lazy people of our own to put to work.
I was watching a fashion show yesterday - Hey, Hey, don't say that. Yes, I was watching a fashion show but it was actually part of a movie. I was wondering, who buys all those weird clothes? I heard it was rock stars wives. I suppose. Some of them have a lot of wives and ex-wives.

Shopping At Sears

Last week I bought a new lawn mower. End of the season, good time to buy. Saw a sale at Sears Clearance Center. 20% off and another 10% off with their card. I knew what I wanter before I got there. 6.5 hp, large rear wheels, rear wheel drive, and rear bag.  It used to be that the grass shot out the side, then it was a bag on the back. Now they come with both.
They had a whole bunch there and I found one I liked. Had everything I wanted plus a hose connection for cleaning under it. That's something new. Good idea. I wonder if I can install one on my other mower. I have two mowers. The other one just shoots out the side. Good for my back yard. Don't need to bag, easy to push, don't need auto drive.
So the original price with tax was $ 575.00. marked down to $196. less 20%, less 10%, no tax. Total price was $160.  So I wheeled it from the store. Used it yesterday, works great.

Mayhem Still Reigns

Sunny out today but Thor is supposed to bang his hammer.

Do you notice there is nothing on tv to watch? It's so bad, I've even given the clicker over to my wife. I may be starting a bad idea here, because I'll want it back when the fall comes. I noticed she was watching Masterchef and they were cooking steaks. There was rare, medium and well done. They never mentioned shoe leather or burned to a crisp.

Read this headline,"Retirees Push Up Condo Prices." That's the "Me Generation" for you. It's never them, it's always someone else. When they are through with us, it will be the fault of the generation behind them.

I wrote in my Facebook about Sears catalogs used as toilet paper. Do you know, the first pages they used were from books of poems. They say, on a windy day, you could see these pages flying all over the english countryside. They wern't suitable for collecting.

Yesterday's front page was about the wages collected by people who run charities. Some earn a quarter million a year. It looks like a third of the money they collect goes to wages. And, as I have said before, these charities never die. If a cure is found, the charty is morphed into another. After all, they don't want to lose their jobs. In the U.S, it is not uncommon for the co. of a charity to earn a million.

Mayhem is still running rampant here. At 7:45 AM, three women smucked a woman on a bus and took her purse. She chased them and tried to get her purse back, but went down for the count. The bottom line is two were caught and before the judge at 10:00 AM.
At 5:00 AM on Monday morning, four guys attacked a couple, and used a hammer on him. With all the screaming, they took off and are still on the lam.

Spiders & Alligators

Saw this article about this woman in San Paulo, Brazil. After a flood, she found a four foot alligator in her living room, swept in by the water. Next to it was her three year old son, sitting and patting it on the head. They said it was lucky the alligator wasn't hungry. I can sure agree with that.

This headline said."Mounties want to silence false alarms." This involves automatic alarms that are triggered and the police go rushing to the house. Sometimes it is caused by creaky doors or spiders going over motion sensors. To tell you the truth, if spiders are big enough to turn on motion sensors, maybe the Mounties should come.

The way gas prices work here is that prices changes are given Thursday at midnight. In this way, when they hear on TV that oil prices are up, they can't go out and jack up the prices. Prices are regulated and the new price is what they paid for oil it two weeks ago. So tomorrow gas will be two cents higher. With oil prices still going up, it will be higher next week and the week after.

I see Sears profit is down 28%. Wonder if they are starting to fall apart? I just about never go there.

Yesterday, I said something about Tim Horton coffee. It appears they are going to increase their prices. Never had any this year, so far.

In the Obituary column, I noticed a friend of mine died. I used to work with him at the airport. A good guy, only 62. R.I.P. Mac.
