KFC

I can tell that KFC is back in the area. Saw my first discarded pop container on the side of the road.

"The Price of Love" by Peter Robinson

This is a good selection of short stories and a novella. They are not all Alan Banks stories, but a wide variety of other reads. Most enjoyable.

"The Bourne Ascendancy" by Lustbader, Eric Van

"The Bourne Ascendancy" is #12 in the Bourne series. One thing you can always say about a Bourne novel, there is never a dull moment or a lack of bodies. A surprise in this novel is that a couple of the bad guys actually go to jail. Bourne seems that he is always getting beaten to a pulp, but like Hulk Hogan, down on the mat, he raises his hand in the air and comes back from certain defeat.

"Skipping Christmas" by John Grisham

"Skipping Christmas", a book and a movie. This is a holiday theme book, a humorous reality check of Christmas. This is a fast paced book, a light read for the holidays. I wanted a something to read over the Christmas period and this fell into my hands. It elaborates on the time spent and the expenses involved to celebrate Christmas. It is humorous, making one think of their own festivities or folly. Through all the turmoil of the holidays, it does end up with the meaning of Christmas.

Doctor Shortage

I think we have lost a lot of potentially good doctors because of political correctness and multiculturalism.

"Where Eagles Dare" by Alistair MacLean

"Where Eagles Dare," a book and a movie about British commandos on a WW 2 raid into Germany. I saw the movie more than once and decided to see if the book was anywhere close. I was not disappointed. The book and movie ran along the same lines, although I found the book much more exciting. The start was slow but then it was non-stop action, intrigue and twists to the plot. What I did not like was the continuous flippant remarks by the second in command. Too much for a mission fraught with danger. For those interested in WW 2 commandos, I highly recommend this book.

One of the worse inventions is cans of spray paint. How much graffiti would there be if they had to use paint brushes?

Boxing Day

Christmas: A day of love and forgiveness. Followed by Boxing Day: A day of frustration and anger.

Ego

Everyone has a different idea about right and wrong. Some of these will make you shake your head, while others will make you shiver.

"The Lady Chapel (Owen Archer, #2)" by Candace Robb

"The Lady Chapel" is a 13th. murder mystery. It has court & political intrigue and more than enough murders to satisfy anyone. For some, justice is quick, while for some others crimes are deliberately forgotten. I had trouble with the time frames during sequences of events. Events out of sync and sequences cut short to start another thread.

"The Wrecking Crew" by Donald Hamilton

"The Wrecking Crew " is #2 of the Matt Helm series. It is a spy thriller of the cold war era and lacks the page turning quality of the modern age. What did surprise was the gems of wisdom that are still relevant today. I found the language had too much bravado, reminding me of the gangster movies of the 1930's.

A Christmas Carol

Started watching the new Scrooge TV movie, "A Christmas Carol." I lasted 20 min. It was crap.

Cannabis Edibles

On sale for the first time in Nova Scotia is Cannabis Edibles. As they were doing the interview, the camera panned across some of the products. I saw a brownie for $14.00. Gives credence to the saying that a fool and his money are soon parted.

Ambulance

I was out doing my walk yesterday morning as an ambulance came by. When it was next to me it put on its siren. I almost jumped put of my skin.

The Shortest Day

Today is the shortest day of the year. Some places up north have 23 hrs. of darkness. Daylight saving time doesn't help them much.
